Meet some of our team

Between them, our vets offer our clients and their pets a vast wealth of knowledge and experience gleaned from their work here and elsewhere in the county, the UK and indeed the world!  They are also supported in their work by our dedicated, capable and friendly nursing and reception teams.

In the event that your pet is seen by more than one vet, please rest assured that every team member makes thorough notes about every visit made.  This ensures that all of your pets' details are comprehensively captured on our system at every point of contact, which enables even a new-to-you vet to hit the ground running.

    Dan Holden

    Head Nurse

Dan started working in the veterinary world at the tender age of 15.  A consummate animal lover, he qualified as a Registered Vet Nurse back in 2009 and now heads up our six strong nursing team.  Dan brings a wealth of experience to the practice, and as Head Nurse he oversees the efficient running of all nursing team activities and appointmentsDan says one of the highlights of his job is talking to owners about their pets (and life in general!) during consults. In addition to the many cats and dogs that come into the practice, Dan has a special interest in rabbits and other rodents.

  • Tracey Kendall

    Tracey Kendall

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

Tracey came to us from the world of finance, and as a consummate animal lover with a menagerie of pets to her name, she was glad to swap her spreadsheets for a stethoscope. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2022 and spends most of her free time taking care of her pets and riding her horses, Boris and Ernie.

  • Annie Waldron

    Annie Waldron

    Nursing Assistant

Before joining our team in 2017, Annie worked in IT and as a zookeeper. Since deciding that small animal vet nursing was the career for her, she has become a key member of our nursing team. She loves the endless variety of practice life, and has three Labradors of her own, who she enjoys taking out for walks around beaches and fields.

  • Sarah McCurrich

    Sarah McCurrich

Veterinary Nurse Assistant and Veterinary Receptionist

After many years spent working in marketing, Sarah joined the Armstrong team in 2020, and achieved her level two veterinary nurse assistant diploma two years later. Her favourite part of her job is getting to work with our fabulous team, patients and clients, and outside of work she loves going for country walks with her Labradoodle, Lola, and cuddling her rescue cat, Bella.

  • Jennifer Burrough

    Jen Burrough

    Receptionist

Jen’s lovely Welsh lilt and easy manner are welcome sounds to many of our clients when they come through our doors. Having previously worked at an animal rescue centre, she understands how to help nervous four-legged friends relax before their appointments. In her own time, she is kept on her toes by her two daughters and their three rescue dogs.

  • Chloe

    Chloe

    Veterinary Nurse Assistant

Chloe is known for her calm demeanour (whatever comes through the door), and joined our team in 2015 after time spent working in an animal charity role. Although she loves working with dogs, she is a fully committed “cat person”, having adopted a ginger cat called Merlin from Teckels Animal Sanctuaries.

  • Bekky

    Bekky

    Veterinary Nurse Assistant

Bekky has been with us since 2009, and many of our clients and their pets know her well. She assists our veterinary surgeons during operations, helps to resolve owner queries and manages our diary. She particularly enjoys taking care of inpatients and putting her grooming skills to good use when supporting our long-standing charity client, Teckels Animal Sanctuaries. It’s no wonder her French bulldog, Sydney, always looks so smart.

  • Lesley

    Lesley

    Veterinary Receptionist

Lesley has been an enthusiastic member of our busy reception team since 2019, and loves getting to meet pets and chat to owners. She has a soft spot for dogs, and has her own Jack Russell terrier called Banksy at home.

  • Helen

    Helen

    Veterinary Receptionist

Helen’s favourite part of her job is “being useful”, and with 30 years of experience as an NHS nurse and time spent raising guide dog puppies, she certainly proves useful at our practice! She joined our team in 2018, and when she’s not working or training assistance puppies, she enjoys crafting, grandparent duties and walking her own dog, Isla.

  • Mike

    Mike

    Delivery Driver

Mike is our resident Postman Pat, and can often be seen out and about in our trusty silver van. He has been with us since 2017, and is never without a dog treat in his pocket and a kind word for everyone he meets. He spends much of his downtime walking his dogs and practising watercolour painting.

  • Louise

    Louise

    Veterinary Receptionist

Over her 15 years in the practice, Louise has seen it all and recognises many pets and their owners by face. Efficient and professional, Louise is skilled at triaging cases when owners call with concerns. She also handles insurance claims – navigating the sometimes tricky claims process with the various different insurance companies on behalf of owners making claims on their pet policies. In her own time Louise is a skilled crafter and also enjoys painting.
